Black, what side do you fall?

Black; our shelter, our subterfuge or our solice. It absorbs the light and takes us on a journey to the inner invisible. By definition it is the ‘color’ of objects that do not emit or reflect light in any part of the visible spectrum. But as all things adopted by humans, black is now enriched through a kaleidoscope of expressions.

Over the next few days I shall explore our companion black.

Black as emblematic of honor. Black as an enigma of the cosmos. Black as racial agenda. Black as the blanket we shelter ourselves in or under.

Let the lyrics of this Nina Simone classic performed by Lizz Wright, Dianne Reeves & Simone – Four Women (NSJ ’09) stir you. Victor
